Frequently asked questions

If your question is not here, ask it on a discovery call or send it through the contact form.

Process

How long does a website take?

Most projects run four to six weeks from the discovery call to launch. The single biggest factor is how quickly content, photos, and feedback come back, which is why we collect all of it up front through the client portal.

Who writes the content?

You supply the raw material and we structure and edit it — that is included from the Professional package upward, based on copy you provide. If you need copy written from scratch, that is quoted separately at $150 per standard page and $300 for the homepage, because original writing is a different job from editing.

How many revisions do I get?

One to three consolidated rounds depending on the package. A round means one set of feedback from one decision-maker, covering changes to an approved direction — not a new direction, and not an open stream of individual requests. Further rounds are $250 each, and anything outside the agreed scope is handled by written change order at $95/hour, always estimated and approved before work starts.

What do you need from me to start?

A logo, photos, brand colors, domain access, and a sense of what the site needs to do. The client portal asks for each of these and tracks what is still outstanding.

Pricing

What does it cost?

Packages start at $500 for a simple two-page site. Most business websites land between $800 and $2,600 depending on how many pages you need and whether you want to be able to edit it yourself. Every proposal itemizes exactly what is included and what it costs — including anything quoted as an add-on — so there are no surprises later.

How do payments work?

Payments are tied to milestones. Under $1,000: paid in full to schedule the work. Between $1,000 and $3,000: 60% to schedule, 40% before launch. Above $3,000: 50% to schedule, 30% at design approval, 20% before launch. Invoices are paid online by card or bank transfer, and the site transfers to you once the balance is settled.

General

Do I own the website?

Yes. On final payment you own the site, the code, the domain, and every account associated with it. Nothing is held hostage on our infrastructure.

Can you work with my existing site?

Often, yes. If the underlying platform is sound we can redesign in place. If it is holding the business back, the redesign service migrates content and preserves search rankings.

Will the site work on phones?

Every site is built mobile first. The majority of visitors to a local business website arrive on a phone, so that is the layout we design against before anything else.

Support

What happens after launch?

Each package includes a defect support window — 14 to 60 days depending on the package — covering anything that is not working as agreed. That window is for fixes, not new work. After it, the Website Care plan at $99/month covers hosting, updates, monitoring, backups, and a monthly allowance of content edits.
